We are pleased to announce the release of our newest tech brief, Flexible RF Test Instruments Enable Cost Effective And Scalable 5G MIMO Tests. The brief focuses on the increase in quality and access of wireless and cellular service for the average user and how our USB-powered digital attenuators, RF switches, signal generators, and phase shifters enable testing to keep up with these emerging technologies from university use to commercial use.
The latest technologies are used to increase the data rates and offer enhanced coverage require test and measurement systems that are more flexible and scalable. As a majority of test and measurement systems do not allow for ease-of-use and customization to handle the growing and changing wireless technology landscape, there is a need for highly flexible and adaptable testing solutions. USB-powered portable test equipment allows for modularity in testing environments.
The chase to establish 5G infrastructure as rapidly as possible comes with an increased need for customizable test and measurement of these potential MIMO candidates. As with any technology that exploits a multipath scenario, the testing for each individual path often needs digital attenuators to adjust signal amplitude. Additionally, RF switches allow for versatile switching between transmit and receive paths. The goal is the keep the testing of these MIMO technologies as simple and accessible as possible considering the design. USB-powered portable test equipment has allowed for a streamlined and customized approach to testing MIMO systems.
Due to the nature of our test equipment, we can offer a variety of testing solutions in 5G test and measurement. All lab bricks come with easy-to-install-and-use GUI’s and the ability to operate multiple devices directly from a PC or self-power USB hub-making these devices optimizable for automated test equipment (ATE) applications. The compact packing and robust aluminum construction allow these devices to be easily stacked or placed in a test arrangement. With API, DLL and LabVIEW compatible drivers available, these lab bricks can be easily integrated into an already existing test system.
